Description

Outlaw Star's Jim and Hanmyo.

This was called Puppy Love and I sutmitted this fanart on February 14th 2007 in honor of Valentine's Day ^_^ It's been so very long since I last looked at these old fanarts and some of them were very special and unique. This one in particular was very special because at the time, it was the longest investment regarding time spent on creating a fanart.

I also really like this fanart - despite all the flaws I now see - because at the time and I suspect even till this day, there are not many fanarts dedicated to Jim and Hanmyo which is a real shame because I think they both fell in love with one another and sadly, as we all know, it ended in tragedy.

I hope you like this as much as I do ^_^
Ma'salaama.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this here on deviantart. I've seen this around the internet before, but I never knew who drew it. I absolutely love this pairing, and while there are certain details in the art that I'm not sure are that great, the extent of Jim and Hanmyo's feelings and the depth of the strong, albeit brief, bond they formed come across loud and clear. I'm not looking at a picture of Jim the outlaw and Hanmyo the pirate. I'm looking at a picture of two children who formed a kind of bond that can't be described in words. Being able to convey that so well is more than enough to make this an awesome piece of artwork, at least in my book.

And you have no idea how right you are about the lack of fan art. *sigh* In fact, there's little mention of Hanmyo in most of the Outlaw Star fan fiction I have come across, let alone ones that focus on her. I find this ironic, considering this appears to be considered one of the most popular episodes among Outlaw Star fans due in large part to the strength of the writing and the emotional depth found throughout the entire episode. But whether it be in spite of or because of this, the gems that there are of both fan fiction and fan art for this pairing stand out like the brightest stars in the night sky. And I try to do my part by working on my own story about these two, for even if it's only the realms of fan works, Jim and Hanmyo deserve a happy ending with one another. And such a story can't be written with anything less than all of my passion and effort. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do as much as I like so far, with only a prologue of sorts and the first three chapters having been finished and available online as of now, but I won't give up on this story until I've seen it through to the end. It may take a long time, longer than I would like, but if it means getting it done and getting it done well, then it's worth it.

Sorry for all that ranting just now, but as you can tell, this is something that really means a lot to me. Outlaw Star has been my favorite TV show for over 12 years now, so keeping my emotions in check when discussing it is not that easy. I apologize if I bored you with what I said, but I really just wanted to get across as best I could that I am so glad that you not only made this, but decided to post it here on this site where I could tell the artist how much I like it. Once again, thank you so much for producing this, and if you ever make more for these two, I'd love to see them as well. In the meantime, I'm feeling pumped, so let's see if I can limit myself to one half hour of working more on the next chapter of my story and then go back to homework. Wish me luck!
